Mission & Intent of GwG:
Our mission is to increase support, awareness, and funding for research to develop therapeutic solutions that will improve individuals living with Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS).
Grinning with Gavin is a nonprofit entity intended to raise funding through varies fundraising events and donations to support the Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) Research Foundation (smsresearchfoundation.org) which helps to support research to improve the knowledge and understanding of SMS so that viable therapeutic options can be developed in order to improve the quality of life of those with SMS.
Our Purpose
Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) is diagnosis that impacts 1 in 15,000. A journey that is accompanied by developmental and cognitive delays, sleep disruption, tantrums, sudden mood changes, many forms of therapies and biomedical approaches, frequent doctor visits, endless protocols that are often changed on a dime. A diagnosis that deserves more awareness as well as monies for research. We are so blessed to be able to use our journey to help support the cause of the SMS Research Foundation!
Grinning with Gavin is a way to use our initial pain of our son’s diagnosis of a rare syndrome and turning it into our purpose.
